The murals of Palacio de Bellas Artes

There is plenty of world class performing arts to be had at the Palacio de Bellas Artes — I’ve heard nice things about Ballet Folklórico which you can catch several days of the week, and it’s on my list for our next Mexico visit — but I have personally never gotten further than the murals. It’s a handful of walls spread over two floors, which you’ll pay a separate ticket to see (and an additional ticket to photograph), painted by the classics of the Mexican muralist movement. These are artists who had a message they wanted to communicate, so walking around you’ll feel like you are being visually shouted at … but in great colors and style. It’s a powerful experience.
